Hotel Expert Witness Services

In today's world business relationships are governed by multiple layers of law, precedent, and social practice. These rules-of-conduct require, not just wise men who might sit in judgment, but specialists who understand the rules-of-conduct and who can guide the process to benefit both justice and the interests of the partisans to the case. These experts are recognized by the courts for their superior knowledge in various specialty areas, perhaps gained through career experience, academics, or training, and oftentimes steeped by the wisdom of years. Kenneth Free is one of those Experts. He is exclusively a fully-qualified Hotel Forensic Expert Witness.

Whether or not someone in US courts is qualified as an expert is decided by the trial judge in any given case. According to Federal Rules of Evidence, Rule 702, the judge makes his determination based on the witness’s knowledge, skill, education, training, and experience. Trial lawyers vet witnesses before trial by doing interrogatories and background checks. The trial lawyers make their case for an expert while the attorney on the other side argues to disqualify a potential expert. The judge may also ask questions of the potential expert, and then the judge and the judge alone makes the ruling if a person is qualified to be an expert and can present his testimony and opinion. Mr. Free has never been disqualified as an expert witness by any trial judge.

Mr. Kenneth Free, as Hotel Expert Witness

Kenneth Free, Straightline’s Principal, can oftentimes be an excellent hospitality expert witness designee. Over the years he has served as expert witness before judicial bodies in many states of the USA, as well as in Canada, France, Egypt, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and British West Indies. While typically appearing before courts of the state, he has also served in cases before bodies of arbitration, including JAMS (Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc.), a Native American Tribal Court, and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (a World Bank entity). Mr. Free can be a solid expert witness for hotel disputes because of his deep real world experience, his academic credentials, and his demeanor of credibility.

Mr. Free is a true expert in hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses. He does not venture beyond this industry as other self-identified “hotel experts” sometimes do in venturing into it. Some expert witnesses purport to be masters within this specialty, but are in reality generalists or perhaps are knowledgeable in other industries, such as commercial real estate or office buildings. The hotel business is fundamentally different from other forms of real estate because it mixes real estate with daily operations and with significant marketing and branding components. Some experts muddle their way through a hotel case; Mr. Free can focus like a laser on the real issues.
